The Pocket Mentor is your daily mental wellbeing workout that builds mental strength to thrive in the challenges of life. Taken from evidence based thought leadership in psychologies and neuroscience The Pocket Mentor toolkit builds; growth mindset, focus, resilience, motivation and empathy.

Short answer: All of us... anyone that has a brain! Longer answer: Elise here, the founder of The Pocket Mentor. My quest began a few years ago after leaving University. I was lucky enough to get a job in the big wide world but soon found I was unprepared for the challenges of everyday life, from coping when something went wrong at work to motivating myself up in the morning. The more I spoke to others, the more I realised I wasn't alone... So, how was it possible for us to go through 14 odd years of formal education and still come out unprepared for the challenges of the real world? What was missing? Mental strength and positive mindset education. Ta dah, The Pocket Mentor was born! I set out to fill this gap in our education and create a toolkit for young people, however... as I researched I noticed that mental strength and mental wellbeing is not only important but crucial for ALL of us... No matter our age, background or role. We've had teens use it independently, parents use it with their younger children, university students, adult professionals, and even my grandma! It’s never too early or too late to develop mental strength and mental wellbeing habits, to enable our greatest tool, our brain, to work at it's best and help us thrive.

In one simple word… Science! We believe that if we understand how our brain works then we can optimise all areas of our lives and better understand why we feel the way we do. We research the latest in positive psychology, neuroscience, mindfulness and optimal living literature. Then, we take the Science and relate it to everyday student life in bitesize videos and tools. The main areas we cover are focus, motivation, confidence, stress, resilience and mindfulness. (Although, the list is ever growing.) The topics we cover here help to optimise our time as students but also build essential transferable skills for life beyond the classroom. At the moment you can use any device that has access to the internet. Log in here on our website from a desktop, tablet or mobile and your Pocket Mentor is always with you. Our mobile app version for iOS and Android devices will be available to download from the app stores in Spring 2021.

We sure will! In your 5 To Thrive wellbeing workout, each day you’ll receive a different mindful moment breathing exercise and a different affirmation prompt. We'll also be adding new Mindset Boosts. These are evidence based real time solutions to real life challenges. For example, processes for calming a worrying mind, pivoting from negative thinking cycles and focus tools to avoid distractions. In response to schools closing here in the UK and the continuing challenges and restrictions we face from covid 19, to provide the essential mental wellbeing support we need during this time we brought forward the launch of our Pocket Mentor web platform. All of our Pocket Mentor mental strength toolkit is available here on our website and can be accessed on any mobile browser too. The app version is in testing and ready for lift off in Spring 2021
